What is ISO 14001 Certification?
ISO 14001 is an internationally recognized standard for environmental management systems. This certification helps organizations improve their environmental performance through more efficient use of resources and waste reduction, thus achieving sustainable improvements. It also involves understanding and identifying the environmental aspects of the organization's operations, products, and services.
What is Saltimport Doing to Cut Emissions?
Being ISO 14001 certified means that we have implemented an environmental management system that meets standards to minimize negative environmental impacts, continuously improve environmental performance, and ensure compliance with laws and regulations.
"We are an active contributor to a modern and sustainable supply chain, aiming for zero emissions in all our logistics processes," says Anders Solheim Book, CEO of Saltimport.
- We control emissions according to the EU's Emissions Trading System and actively work for good capacity utilization and optimal sailing routes to and from our terminals.
- At our terminals, we invest in environmentally friendly alternatives such as all-electric equipment, and all salt is packed in recyclable packaging through Green Point.
- Through our project with Viridis Bulk Carriers, we aim to learn and hopefully in the near future be able to ship salt short-sea on ammonia-powered ships.
